The coin’s reverse portrays a colored phoenix rising up from flames of fire. A medieval style banner displays a silhouette of a phoenix and the monetary denomination, with the inscription ‘phoenix’ featured on a scroll at the base of the design.
Issued as legal tender under the authority of the Government of Tuvalu, the obverse of the coin depicts the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the monetary denomination and the 2013 year-date.
