The coin’s coloured reverse depicts an emu against the background of a bush scene with grass trees. The inscription EMU also appears in the design with The Perth Mint’s traditional ‘P’ mintmark and the 2012 year-date.
Issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965, the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and the monetary denomination are depicted on the coin’s obverse.
