The Austrian Philharmonic silver bullion coins were first introduced in 2008 and is almost identical in design to the popular Austrian Philharmonic Gold bullion series. Each Austrian Silver Philharmonic is struck in 99.9% pure silver, and is the only silver bullion coin denominated in euros. The Austrian Silver Philharmonic bullion coin was created as a silver tribute to the renowned Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, one of the world's most well-known orchestras.
The obverse is stamped with the name of the orchestra in German, and features a montage of instruments: a string bass, cellos, violins, a bassoon, harp and Viennese horn. The reverse features an image of the Great Organ found in Vienna's Golden Hall, the Musikverein.
