Christy Mathewson is the third release in the five-part “T-206 Baseball Series.” Christy Mathewson’s T-206 tobacco card image was officially licensed for use on this bar and its production has been strictly limited to a total of 1,909 units across all designs – in honor of the year his card was originally issued.
Christopher “Christy” Mathewson, was a Factoryville, PA native who entered the league in 1900 at the age of 19. He began his career as the youngest player in the league, and became without question, one of the greatest pitchers to ever take the mound.
A four-time leader in wins, he had 12 consecutive 20 win seasons, and finished his career ranked third all-time with 373. He lead the league in ERA five times, and is ranked 5th all-time with a career era of 2.13. He started 552 games, completed 435 of those, and was elected to the inaugural Hall of Fame class of 1936.
In the original T-206 series, Mathewson had two poses, a portrait and a posed shot with glove at chest. The later has two variations, one with a black hat, and one with a white hat.
